Low Carb Diets

There are a variety of diet plans that follow the goal of losing weight. These plans are basically designed keeping in mind the needs and requirements of the individual. The most popular of these plans these days is the low-carb diet.

A low carbohydrate diet, commonly known as a low carb diet, is a diet plan where weight control carbohydrate intake is prohibited. Bread and pasta foods that are high in sugar are replaced with soy products, green vegetables, and meat foods which are rich sources of protein and fat.

Carbohydrate content

The amount of food we consume is a combination of 3 macronutrients that are sugar or carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. Carbohydrate percentages can vary in different foods and on this basis the diet is named high, low, medium, and very low in carbs. High carb diets contain about 50-70% of carbohydrates, moderate carb diets contain 40-50%, low carb diets contain 25-39% carbohydrates but very low carb diets contain 0-25%.
In general, a low carb diet of less than 50-60% is considered a low carb diet. These low-carb diets can also be called high protein diets because they are a rich source of protein and fats.
